A pub named in honour of Scottish inventor James Watt is bidding for success for a UK competition.

“The James Watt” in Cathcart Street, Greenock, has been named tops in Inverclyde in the  The National Pub & Bar Awards 2018 – and is now in the running for one of 15 regional prizes and the overall honour.

The pub is just yards from Watt’s birthplace in the town, in nearby William Street.
