The Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester has paid tribute to one its founders – the Rev. Dr Richard L Hills MBE, who has died at the age of 82.

He authored a range of articles and publications – including three volumes of the life of James Watt, as well as an acclaimed 1970 study about the Industrial Revolution. Read more about him here.

In a tribute published on the Museum website, head curator Georgina Young said the Museum was “deeply saddened” to hear Dr Hill’s death on May 10.

The Manchester Evening News reports that a funeral service is taking place at Mottram Parish Church, in Hyde, Greater Manchester, on June 4.
