The annual Galoshans Festival in Greenock this autumn “will pay homage” to the town’s most famous son, inventor James Watt.
The Greenock Telegraph reports that the festival will run from October 25 and feature shows and live entertainment.
As well as celebrating local Halloween traditions, it will mark the achievements of James Watt.

Karen Patton Orr, chief executive of event organisers RIG Arts, said: “As 2019 marks the bicentenary of the death of Greenock’s famous inventor James Watt, this year’s festival theme is based on ‘innovation and light’ in his honour.”

Galoshans is run in partnership with Inverclyde Council and local venues including the Beacon Arts Centre.

The 2019 festival is being supported by an £8,000 grant from EventScotland, part of VisitScotland.
